INTRODUCTION :
The Georg-Simon-Ohm Management-Institute was formed in November 2002
with support of the Bavarian State government. The institute is an organizationally
independent institute of further education within the Georg-Simon-Ohm
University of Applied Sciences.
The Georg Simon Ohm Management Institute (GSO-MI) offers leading general management
MBA programs for full-time and part-time students.
The sole objective of GSO-MI is to provide advanced education geared toward international
business, with the top priority being to prepare students for the global economy.
GSO-MI is ranked in the top three among German public universities for its excellent,
practice-oriented market approach.
Georg Simon Ohm Management Institute (GSO-MI) is part of the public Georg Simon
Ohm University of Applied Sciences in Bavaria. As the second largest University
of Applied Sciences in Bavaria with over 8,000 students and more than 250 professors,
it has at its disposal a large potential of customer contacts, partnerships with
other universities (approx. 100 worldwide) and research projects.
The university is named after the physicist Georg Simon Ohm, who was one of the
leading scientists of the 19th century. He studied the phenomenon of galvanic
current with a passion. In 1826 he formulated Ohm’s Law, which laid the
foundation for his continued success. From 1839 to 1849 he led the Nuremberg
University as its president. Nearly 40 years after his death, the International
Electrical Congress of 1893 adopted the “ohm” as the unit of electrical
resistance.

MBA (MP-I Master Program Intensive)

The Master Program Intensive (MP-I) is an internationally
orientated additional academic qualification leading to a Master
of Business Administration certificate in General Management.
Within a time frame of approx. 15 months, the participants acquire
essential knowledge on central topics of management within an international
context.
The MBA contents of the MP-I course offer a balanced mixture of theoretical
and practical aspects. Furthermore, a maximum of intercultural and
social competence is acquired. In addition to the special course
contents the constellation of the group and the language of tuition
distinguish our course. Over 50 % of the students attending the course
so far come from abroad (from more than 30 different countries of
origin).
MBA tuition is held exclusively in the English language.
Ten core subjects supplemented by two electives from a wide range
of specialized MBA subjects are taught over two terms. A master thesis
is also to be prepared in English within a three-month period.

MBA (CMP-F Master Corporate Program for
Financials)

The MBA Corporate Master Program for Financials
(CMP-F) is an internationally-orientated additional academic qualification
with and Master of Business Administration certificate in general
management. In a time period of approx. 21 months the MBA participants
acquire essential knowledge on central topics of management in
an international context.
In the conception of this course, special attention has been paid
to achieving a balanced mixture of theoretical and practical aspects.
Strong links to industry by means of collaboration with various local
partner companies help to establish close links to practice for our
MBA students. In addition, guest lectures by well-known managers
and excursions serve to strengthen the practical experience. The
master thesis at the end of the course also represents an important
link to the practical business world.
The learning atmosphere of the CMP-F course is international: Approx.
40 % of the participants come from abroad, the Master of Business
Administration language of tuition and social language is exclusively
English. In this way, the intercultural and social competence can
be acquired within the normal course of the lectures.
Ten internationally orientated core subjects supplemented by two
electives from a wide range of MBA specialized subjects are taught
over three terms. A master thesis is also to be prepared in English
within a three-month period.

MBA (CMP-F Master Corp. Program
for Non-Financials)
24 months, evening classes, English, March & October intakes

The MBA Corporate Master Program for Non-Financials (CMP-NF)
is an internationally-orientated additional academic qualification
leading to an Master of Business Administration (MBA) certificate
in general management. Within a time period of approx. 24 months
the participants acquire a thorough understanding of management
basics and current management topics within an international context.
Participants from various countries work together in solving management
problems with an international orientation. The language of tuition
is English. The knowledge transfer of a widespread theoretical base
is supplemented by Master of Business Administration strong links
to industry: e.g. company plan scenarios, excursions, guest lectures
by managers from partner companies, intensive case studies.
Soft skills are also taught in addition to pure factual management
knowledge. Evidence of fundamental management qualifications as well
as social and intercultural competence is a deciding factor for success
in the modern business world.
In the first semester, the MBA program consists six basic subjects,
each ending with an examination. This fundamental knowledge will
be built upon in the second to the fourth semester with 13 internationally-orientated
core subjects and two electives from a wide range of special Master
of Business Administration subjects. At the end of the MBA course
of study a master thesis in the English language has to be written
(time period: three months).
